Politics is a dirty game. It's not for the faint of heart, or the soft-hearted. From what we're seeing in our country's current political landscape, you have to have a cutthroat personality and the desire to step over women, children and the elderly to get what you want.
I have neither that personality nor that desire, which is why I will stay out of that political game.
Many have tried to run clean campaigns in the past and abstain from the politics of division, but eventually they get sucked in. Look what happened recently in the 2016 Republican primary fight when Senator Marco Rubio began his campaign with a clear focus on addressing the issues, only to be dragged down into a mud fight of personal character attacks with Donald Trump in order to keep up with the frontrunner.
You can try to be an agent of change and run a clean campaign, but as Lt. Matthew Casey from the hit NBC drama, Chicago Fire, said in a recent episode where he's running for Chicago alderman:
I can see exactly why no sane person wants to subject himself to this process. You run a clean campaign, you get creamed. You run a dirty one, you might win an election but you lose your soul. What's the point?—Lt. Matthew Casey
That statement alone perfectly sums up what's wrong with America's political process, and why I wouldn't dream of entering the fray.
But if I were running, allow me to share with you my personal political platform.
I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat.
I am a
While my views tend to align more with the GOP, I cannot in good conscience label myself as a Republican and blindly agree with everything the party stands for, because I am not a robot.
I may be an American, but I am a Christian first and foremost. Therefore, my values are not solely conservative values or liberal values, but Christian values. I am not primarily influenced by Republicans or Democrats, but by Jesus Christ and God Almighty.
Without my steadfast faith -- bestowed upon me by God and upheld by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution -- I would be a soulless drifter, wasting the precious gift of life in a blind, selfish manner until the sand in my hourglass ran out.
Please read my platform and understand what I would be fighting for if I were running for President of the United States.
Thank you. God bless you, and may God continue to bless the United States of America.
